Interludes
This collection of eighteen short pieces were written for those occasions during a church service when music is needed to cover some movement or to create a bridge from one part of the service to the next. They are all based on hymn tunes and in most cases were originally used where the congregation had just sung the hymn concerned.
All the pieces can be played on a modest two manual and pedal instrument and the majority require one manual only. In a few cases, the use of pedals is required and in some others is optional. Some tempo and registration suggestions are included as guidelines, but the player is encouraged to make use of the resources available.
